วันที่ 15 พฤศจิกายน 2568 เวลา 06.00 น. คณะแพทยศาสตร์ศิริราชพยาบาล มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล พร้อมกองทัพธรรม เดินทางออกจากท่าอากาศยานสุวรรณภูมุ สู่ประเทศศรีลังกา เพื่อปฏิบัติภารกิจด้านการแพทย์และมนุษยธรรมในโครงการ
“ก้าวแรกของพระบรมศาสดา ครั้งที่ 3 : Love for Humanity by Siriraj @ Sri Lanka”
ผ่าตัดเปลี่ยนข้อเข่าเทียมให้ผู้ป่วยด้อยโอกาส และถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้ทางการแพทย์ เชิดชูพระเกียรติ และสร้างสัมพันธ์ไมตรีระหว่างสองประเทศ
โครงการนี้จัดขึ้นเพื่อน้อมรำลึกและเฉลิมพระเกียรติ พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรเมนทรรามาธิบดีศรีสินทรมหาวชิราลงกรณ พระวชิรเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว สมเด็จพระกนิษฐาธิราชเจ้า กรมสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี ในวโรกาสทรงเจริญพระชนมายุ 70 พรรษา พร้อมทั้งน้อมเกล้าน้อมกระหม่อมถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลแด่ พระบาทสมเด็จพระบรมชนกาธิเบศร มหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมหาราช บรมนาถบพิตร
ภารกิจนี้ยังเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการเฉลิมฉลองครบรอบ 70 ปี ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูต ไทย–ศรีลังกา โดยจะผ่าตัดเปลี่ยนข้อเข่าให้ผู้ป่วย 79 ราย รวม 100 ข้อ ณ โรงพยาบาลแห่งชาติแคนดี (The National Hospital – Kandy) ในระหว่างวันที่ 15–21 พฤศจิกายน 2568

หัวหน้าภาควิชาศัลยศาสตร์ออร์โธปิดิคส์และกายภาพบำบัด และผู้นำทีมแพทย์จิตอาสา เปิดเผยว่าที่ประเทศศรีลังกายังคงมีผู้ป่วยกว่า 800–1,000 ราย รอคิวผ่าตัดเปลี่ยนข้อเข่าเป็นเวลานานเกินกว่า 1 ปี ส่งผลให้ผู้ป่วยหลายรายมีอาการทรุดลง และบางรายไม่สามารถเดินได้ตามปกติ
ศิริราชจึงตั้งใจยกระดับโอกาสการรักษาให้แก่ผู้ป่วยด้อยโอกาสในพื้นที่ โดยเพิ่มจำนวนการผ่าตัดจากเดิมที่วางแผนไว้ 70 ราย 84 ข้อ เป็น 79 ราย 100 ข้อ ภายในเวลาเพียง 3 วันทำการ ร่วมกับทีมแพทย์และบุคลากรจิตอาสากว่า 37 คน
ศ.นพ.กีรติ กล่าวด้วยว่าความเป็นแพทย์คือการดูแลมนุษย์ทุกชีวิตโดยไร้พรมแดน ไม่มีเชื้อชาติ ไม่มีศาสนา เรามอบความรัก ความเมตตาให้กันได้เสมอ หากเราแบ่งปันความรัก โลกจะงดงามและสงบสุข”
โครงการได้รับการสนับสนุนโดยพระราชภาวนาวชิรากร (หลวงพ่ออินทร์ถวาย สันตุสสโก) พระราชวชิรธรรมาจารย์ (หลวงพ่อสุธรรม สุธัมโม) พระพรหมศากยวงศ์วิสุทธิ์ (หลวงพ่ออนิลมาน ธมฺมสากิโย) ทั้งสามฝ่ายกล่าวสอดคล้องกันว่า ภารกิจครั้งนี้เป็นการ “เดินตามรอยพระบรมศาสดา” นำหลักเมตตาธรรมมาหล่อเลี้ยงโลก พร้อมสร้างสะพานความร่วมมือด้านการแพทย์ ศาสนา และมนุษยธรรมระหว่างไทย–ศรีลังกาอย่างยั่งยืน
หลวงพ่อสุธรรม กล่าวว่า“การให้สุขภาพดีคือการให้สิ่งที่มีค่าที่สุด เพราะส่งผลต่อครอบครัว สังคม และมนุษยชาติ”
พระพรหมศากยวงศ์วิสุทธิ์ กล่าวว่า โครงการนี้สะท้อนหลักธรรมทางพุทธศาสนาเรื่องความเมตตา การช่วยเหลือเพื่อนมนุษย์ ในฐานะชาวพุทธ การดูแลซึ่งกันและกันเป็นสิ่งสำคัญอย่างยิ่งต่อความเจริญรุ่งเรืองของโลก โครงการอันดีงามนี้ผสานความร่วมมือระหว่างคณะแพทยศาสตร์ ร่วมกับความเมตตาและการสนับสนุนจากชาวพุทธไทย เพื่อพัฒนาสุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดีของผู้คนที่เราอาจไม่มีโอกาสได้พบเจอ
ด้านคุณสุจินตนา จรรยาทิพย์สกุล ประธานมูลนิธิเก้ายั่งยืน และ JS Arts Gallery กล่าวเสริมว่าความดีอาจถูกมองต่าง แต่การช่วยเพื่อนมนุษย์ให้มีสุขภาพดี คือรอยตามคำสอนพระพุทธเจ้าว่า ความรักและความเอื้ออาทร ทำให้โลกสันติสุข”

ภารกิจครั้งนี้ไม่เพียงเพื่อผ่าตัด แต่ยังมุ่งเน้น ถ่ายทอดองค์ความรู้แก่บุคลากรท้องถิ่น เสริมสร้างความมั่นคงทางด้านสาธารณสุขฟื้นฟูคุณภาพชีวิตผู้ป่วยในศรีลังกาอย่างยั่งยืน

Siriraj Performs 100 Knee Replacement Surgeries to Celebrate 70 Years of Thai–Sri Lankan Relations
On 15 November 2025, at 6:00 a.m., the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, together with the Army of Dhamma, departed from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Sri Lanka to carry out a medical and humanitarian mission under the project:
“The First Step of the Supreme Buddha, 3rd Edition: Love for Humanity by Siriraj @ Sri Lanka.”
The mission involves performing knee replacement surgeries for underprivileged patients and sharing medical knowledge, honoring royal prestige, and strengthening friendship between the two countries.
This project is organized to pay tribute to and celebrate the royal merits of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of her 70th birthday, and to offer royal merit in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.
The mission is also part of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Sri Lanka, with plans to perform knee replacement surgeries for 79 patients, totaling 100 knees, at The National Hospital – Kandy, during 15–21 November 2025.
Prof. Dr. Keerati Charoencholwanich, Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Physical Therapy and leader of the volunteer medical team, revealed that in Sri Lanka, over 800–1,000 patients are still on the waiting list for knee replacement surgery for more than a year, causing many to deteriorate and some to lose the ability to walk normally.
Siriraj aims to enhance treatment opportunities for underprivileged patients by increasing the number of surgeries from the originally planned 70 patients, 84 knees, to 79 patients, 100 knees, within just 3 working days, together with a volunteer medical and support team of more than 37 people.
Prof. Dr. Keerati added that being a doctor means caring for every human life, regardless of borders, race, or religion. “We can always share love and compassion. When we share love, the world becomes beautiful and peaceful.”
The project is supported by Phra Rajapawana Vajirakorn (Luang Por Indrataw Santhussako), Phra Rajavachiradhammajarn (Luang Por Sutham Suthammo), and Phra Brahmasakyawong Wisut (Luang Por Anilman Thammasakiyo). All three emphasized that this mission is “following in the footsteps of the Supreme Buddha,” applying the principles of compassion to nourish the world, while building a sustainable bridge of medical, religious, and humanitarian cooperation between Thailand and Sri Lanka.
Luang Por Sutham said, “Providing good health is the greatest gift, as it affects families, society, and humanity.”
Phra Brahma Sakayawong Wisutthith said that this project embodies Buddhist principles of loving-kindness, helping fellow human beings. As Buddhists, taking care of one another is essential for the world to thrive. This virtuous initiative brings together the Faculty of Medicine, along with the compassion and support of Thai Buddhists, to improve the health and well-being of people we may never meet.
Ms. Sujintana Chanyathipakul, Chairperson ofv the Nine Sustainable Foundation and JS Arts Gallery, added that while kindness may be viewed differently, helping fellow humans achieve good health follows the teachings of the Buddha: love and compassion create a peaceful world.
Siriraj: “Pain is a universal language – the heart of healing knows no borders.”
This mission is not only about performing surgeries but also focuses on transferring knowledge to local personnel, strengthening the stability of public health, and restoring the quality of life for patients in Sri Lanka sustainably.
